Middle/High School Outreach Visits

  • Your students will:

    • Learn about new and interesting titles
    • Learn how to search for books they actually want to read

    • Learn about the different apps/formats for reading and listening

    • This program can include the catalog demo listed below, as well as a book-tasting activity and reminder handout.

  • Your students will:

    • Learn the ins and outs of the Library’s catalog
    • Learn how to access their library card account (if they have one)

    • Learn how to search for a title and put it on hold

    • Learn about the different apps/formats for reading and listening

  • Your students will:

    • Learn the basics of their public library and its offerings (a.k.a. we’re more than just books!)
    • Learn where the library is and why you should go

    • Learn about all of the awesome stuff they can do/get (for free) with their library card

    • Learn about upcoming volunteer opportunities and programs

    • This program can include a fun trivia or jeopardy-style game!

  • Your students will:

    • Explore Librarianship as a career through the eyes of their local librarian
    • Learn about the education required to become a librarian

    • Learn about the day-to-day tasks of their Teen Librarian

    • Hear anecdotal stories about the path from high schooler to librarian

    • Learn how they can become involved in libraries starting right now!

  • Your students will:

    • Explore titles related to your current/upcoming unit/topic
    • Learn how to check out/access those titles

    • Learn about the library’s free research tools related to the unit (if applicable)

    • Sample a variety of relevant books through a book-tasting activity

    • Leave with a paper reminder about the books from the chat

  • Your students will:

    • Learn how to access and navigate library resource(s) and/or database(s)

      • ​Demos can be in-depth regarding a certain topic, i.e. test prep, career resources, or provide a general look into to what the library offers

    • Learn how the library can support their research needs, i.e. for an upcoming project

    • Learn about the free educational tools provided to them with a library card
